Hermes CU ("the extension") adds CULPA professor ratings to Columbia's Vergil. This page explains what the extension collects and why. We collect the minimum needed to run the service and improve it — nothing is sold.
Events are sent to our backend (Supabase) over HTTPS and stored in a private database that only we can read. The professor ratings dataset is fetched by the extension in encrypted form and decrypted locally; it is never written to disk in plaintext.
The extension requests only what it needs: storage (to cache the ratings
dataset locally), and access to vergil.columbia.edu so it can
render ratings on the page. It does not request permission to read your
general browsing history.
Uninstalling the extension stops all collection. To request deletion of data associated with your display name, email us at the address below.
