Hermes CU ("the extension") adds CULPA professor ratings to Columbia's Vergil. This page explains what the extension collects and why. We collect the minimum needed to run the service and improve it.

What we collect

Usage pings: when you visit a supported Vergil page, the extension sends a once-per-day beacon event with your Vergil ID and classes so that we can update the ratings.
Reports you submit: if you use the "report a professor" form, we receive the professor name, the issue type, and any course/UNI you enter.

What we do NOT collect

No information across other websites.

How it's stored

Events are sent to our backend (Supabase) over HTTPS and stored in a private database.

Permissions

The extension requests only what it needs: storage (to cache the ratings dataset locally), and access to vergil.columbia.edu so it can render ratings on the page.

Your choices

Uninstalling the extension stops all collection.
